Pediatric Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat)

An otolaryngologist is a head and neck surgeon or ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeon. Otolaryngology includes the treatment of cosmetic facial tumors of the head and neck, endoscopic examination of air and food passages, management of ear disease and hearing loss, and the care of sinus, laryngeal, and thyroid disorders.

Otolaryngology has evolved into a multifaceted area of medicine, as there are a variety of head and neck disorders that affect children and adults differently. In addition to having subdivisions of oncology, otoneurology, and laryngobronchoesophagology, there is also pediatric otolaryngology. Due to the unique differences between children and adults, pediatric patients require a group of otolaryngologists with special training and credentials.
